Flavor Profile
To select the 1917 range of House Wines, the Omaha Steaks team tasted a wide array of wines from boutique cellars around the world—and only the very best made the cut.
The Omaha Steaks 1917 Dry Creek Cabernet Reserve was crafted by renowned California winemaker William (Bill) Knuttel. Before starting his own winery, Bill was winemaker at three of Sonoma’s most prestigious estates and was also formerly the president of the California Cabernet Society.
Dry Creek Valley is one of the best spots to grow Cabernet in Sonoma. Bill sourced the grapes for this luxurious red from his two favorite vineyards in the region, which are run by long-standing friends: Peterson Vineyard is a ranch near the top of Bradford Mountain and Aldolsen Vineyard (on the gentle slopes of the western hills).
Bill aged the Cabernet for 24 months in his finest barrels and bottled it without fining to retain all of the aromas and flavors. In the glass, look forward to aromas of ripe strawberry with hints of cocoa and black cherry. It has a deep color with flavors of rich berry compote, dark chocolate and baking spices. It will pair perfectly with ribeye crown, roasted meats, aged cheeses and much more.
The wine was recently awarded a Director’s Platinum Award and a 94-point rating at the Monterey International Wine Competition 2024: “Nothing shy here—this is all about big fruit, easy spice and hedonism from the nose through the palate, where solid structure knits the fruit and oak together well. Decant this for an hour or two, or cellar a while. Delicious!”
1917 is more than just the year Omaha Steaks first opened shop. It’s a promise of perfection—and a guarantee that this bottle will wow you from first sip to last.
