Sancerre is home to some of the world’s most coveted Sauvignon Blanc and this classically styled example from Domaine Daniel Reverdy shows why. Vibrant, pure-fruited and perfumed, it's an absolute star in our cellar.

In France’s Loire Valley, the Sancerre region’s chalky and flinty soils, cool climate and gently sloping vineyards have yielded sublime Sauvignon Blanc since the late 19th century, and this one from Domaine Daniel Reverdy is really a thing of beauty. Shining with white peach and fresh lemon flavors, it’s juicy yet elegant—the perfect pour for a special occasion or a welcome addition to any holiday table.

Though the Reverdy family has long been growing wine grapes, it wasn't until 2002 that they began bottling their own estate wine. And we're sure glad they did.

Situated in the hamlet of Chaudenay, in the petite Sancerre commune of Verdigny, they have less than 20 acres under vine, all of which encircle the domaine. (The farthest plot is less than a mile and a half from their doorstep, a rarity in this area.)

Since 1979, Daniel has tended the vineyards, while his son Cyrille—having returned home after years of training in Burgundy—now handles the winemaking. Together, they show that small can indeed be mighty, producing classically styled wines that are equal parts approachable and impressive. 

You can look forward to aromas of fresh lemon and grapefruit, balanced by grassy tones and a hint of roasted almonds. The palate is filled with vibrant stone fruit and zesty citrus that continue across a long finish. It’s a classic match for goat cheese (another Sancerre specialty) or fresh seafood. 

Just be aware, stocks of this fine bottle are very limited.
