Although California often steals the spotlight, savvy wine enthusiasts know that Washington State also offers elegant, ripe-fruited Chardonnay. Named after the Arctic whales that can sometimes be spotted along Washington’s Pacific Coast, Bowhead brings together two of the state’s historic industries: whaling and wine.
The winemaking team sourced the Chardonnay grapes for Bowhead from the Horse Heaven Hills, a premium enclave of the Columbia Valley. It’s truly a ‘heavenly’ spot for viticulture. Rich, alluvial soils provide the perfect foundation for vines, while the extra-long, sunny growing season gives grapes ample time to ripen and develop concentrated, complex flavors.
Full bodied and supremely elegant, Bowhead delivers waves of ripe pear, yellow apple and vanilla spice. Like all Chardonnay of this caliber, it’s incredibly food-friendly and will pair well with soft cheeses, roasted white meat or creamy vegetarian dishes.
Chardonnay fans will definitely want to get a bottle (or several) of this exclusive release in their wine rack. Especially since it scooped up a bronze medal at the San Francisco International Wine Competition. Hurry for your share.
