Beyond the Label

If you’re a fan of sumptuous, lip-smacking reds, Vilarissa Valley is a must-taste. Crafted by the legendary Van Zeller family at one of Portugal’s oldest estates, it’s sensationally smooth and perhaps a little too easy to drink, bursting with vibrant red fruit flavors and punching well above its price point.

Originally conceived in celebration of the Van Zellers’ 400th vintage (and a whopping 15 generations of fine wine production), the wine stars Touriga Nacional from the family’s well-situated vineyards in the Alto Douro Vinhateiro.

With its terraced, steep slopes, the inland district is warmer and drier than the rest of the Douro, which helps grapes grown here develop richer, more complex flavors. It also demands that vines be hand-harvested—a painstaking process that helps ensure top quality from the beginning.

Aged in fine oak for extra depth and complexity, this finished wine is fresh and expressive for its full body, with spicy tones of red currants, plums and cherries. Order your share today.
